Sun Bathing

Our new turtle friend has chosen a rock ledge to haul out and sun herself. TARA, of course, knows she's there and though not actually threatening the turtle, she rushed up to touch it with her nose. The turtle immediately slid back into the pond. I built a 'barrier' of sorts with potted Swamp Milkweed to give it some piece of mind. So far it's working. The turtle is becoming a little bit more accepting of we humans also. I did a bit more reading and learned that adult Red-bellied Cooters are vegetarians, young turtles are omnivores. So I'm happy (?) to report that this handsome reptile is most likely not responsible for the disappearance of our three Spotted Sunfish.
