Whale ho

This is taken from the pullout just beyond Lanai Lookout, which is routinely used for whale watching and counts.  Saw about 3 different pods.    Also happened to pull up behind the scientist I met last year who was checking out the red-tailed tropic birds and looking for nests.  He says it's still early, but he's seen about 8 nests (83 nests last year).  Also said he has spotted a white-tailed tropicbird, with more black on its body, a red bill, and white streamers.  Says they are probably from islands off Mexico - and our birds are shunning it (after all, two different species).  
The southwest coast of the island of Molokai is visible on the left horizon.
