Ruby Reds

Ruby Red cattle, originally from North Devon, are one of our most ancient breeds being around in pre-Roman Celtic Britain. They are used for beef and are becoming more popular again after being in competition with continental breeds. Their colouring is similar to the Sussex cattle I photographed earlier.

A cold start but another lovely sunny day. The lane had thawed so I was able to walk to the top and look over the hedge at these animals on a neighbouring farm. A friend then came for a chat and a cuppa.
