The Wallace Monument
This monument was built near to where Wallace led his troops out for his victory against the English in 1297. It is visible for a long distance across the Forth Valley and has been closely associated with many aspects of life for people in Stirlingshire through its use in signage, logos, Scout area badges etc. and just by being there.
My six year old English nephew came away from the exhibition in the monument and declared that Wallace had been "a bit of a nuisance". I think Sir William would have had a smile at that.
