On duty
There’s a very special guard at the President’s Palace and I deliberately went to see him this morning.
The President’s garden is closed on Saturdays and Sundays and I think he gets a bit bored. Mind you, he did have a human minder around too. He has this special spot, just on the gate.
He’s a much more welcoming assistant than the staff at the Federico Freitas Museum. It’s not hard to be told off there. I took a photo of the second fort through one of their windows and one of the staff shouted up from downstairs. “NO PHOTOS”. I took my camera down to her to prove I wasn’t photographing the ceramics. She was ok.
Three other visitors (I think the only other visitors) sympathised. They’d inadvertently put a bag down. “It appears it’s a hanging offence”. Later I was told off for going the wrong way......
The Museum is lovely but I’ll not be in a hurry to share it with friends when they next come.
Much more friendly is the lady at the Natural History Museum. Now that’s well worth a visit and you will even get a smile there.
It’s now hot. 26 degrees. February ?!!!
Another concert tonight. I was lucky to grab the last seat in the stalls when I arrived on Monday. Brahms Piano Concerto No 1 and Dvorak’s New World Symphony - and it’s in the Teatro Baltasar Dias.
Extra : a Monarch up early.
