Passing the microphone
Another disabled Black man has been killed by Portland Police. Andre Gladen, 25 years old, was blind and developmentally disabled, disoriented, confused. He was visiting family in Portland, went for a walk and got lost. He ended up on the porch of someone who couldn't understand him and called the police, hoping they would help him find his family. Instead, they killed him.
The family held a press conference yesterday in front of City Hall, begging for police accountability and for de-escalation techniques and the use of less-lethal weapons. The man standing behind the woman with the microphone is Andre's twin brother.
