Neither Land Nor Sea
It was another glorious day today. I did the washing; drying; hoovering; went to the antiques fair at Blakeney; walked our across the marshes on the raised bank and back along the path by the reeds where the birds are; mowed the lawn (a first for a February); processed my photos and did a blip and I'm off for Sunday dinner with G and M later. It was full sun and warm again, the tourists were out and about, the kids were crabbing on Blakeney Quay, the dog walkers were numerous, and the birds were singing their hearts out.
Elly Griffiths describes the marshes on her website. 'Prehistoric man had thought that marshland was sacred. Because it’s neither land nor sea, but something in-between, they saw it as a kind of bridge to the afterlife. Neither land nor sea, neither life nor death.' It definitely feels different walking on the banks across the marshes, looking back to the towns one way and out to sea the other. They are definitely special places - I've included a view from the bank out towards sea as an Extra.
