Drawing At the Natural History Museum
I had a chance to draw birds that didn't move! After all the bird photos I've taken on our walks, it was fascinating to be able to see a red-tail hawk up close and absorb all that detail to my heart's content. There were nine of us scattered around the small museum, but it was early in the day and no one else was there, so we could spread out and be comfortable. I did a couple of pencil sketches of that big hawk, and then some details, as suggested by the instructor. It was really amazing to focus just on his face, and then those gnarly feet. What a wonder to be able to really look at this creature. I took lots of photos so I can continue to study how he is put together.
