Cedar Cup
Just when I thought the fungi season was over and I couldn't possibly find any more species new to me I came across 50+ of these Cedar Cup fungi in a churchyard. Finds are rare in Britain because the cedar tree is non-native and sparsely distributed. Geopora sumneriana is a large (and toxic) cup fungus that develops as a ball underground before erupting and opening out to form a crown-shaped cup with 5-8 rays. In this one you can see the rays starting to form. The flesh inside is the colour of coconut while the outer skin is covered in brown hairs. Very chuffed to have this one on my list.
