Mule deer

While in the town of Invermere , just at sunset, we happened to come across a group of mule deer foraging by the railway line.  The group included one buck (above) and three does. 

 It seems they are gregarious animals, often seeking out human habitations where predators are unwilling to venture.  In the wild they prefer open rugged landscapes.
