My Great Success Story

Robberg Nature Reserve

Travel Diary:
Monkeyland and Birds of Eden: I wasn't expecting much of these places but they turned out great! In Monkeyland we were guided around a large segregated forested area with loads of Monkey's and apes running around. There was a gibbon, lemurs, little south American monkeys and a lot more. There's a large suspension bridge and as we walked over there were servas (?) everywhere. These are local, and most likely to attack. The couple behind us had one approach, trying to grab the camera. Behind them a women had a serva jump onto her. Luckily it didn't bite.

World of birds was, surprisingly, even better. So so many birds, as well as some tamarinds. Some of the best were toucans, flamingoes, parrots, loerie, bright pheasants and crabes. Both of Courtney's grandparents ended up with an African Grey parrot randomly hopping onto their shoulder.

Robberg Nature Reserve: After some tea and sandwiches for lunch we went to find the robberg nature reserve, located on a peninsula just west of Plettenberg. It has walks either side if the thin strut of land. On one side the sea was rough, with constant large waves. On the other side, it was almost completely flat. We walked for a bit with Phil and Jean and then they went back to the car when the walk started getting steeper. It would have taken too long to walk to the end so we went just a bit of the way. We managed to find a group of seals swimming off a rock far below the path. The weather was a lot better today than I expected and as we wandered back to the car park the sun was setting all I needed was a t shirt and shorts and even then I was hot, meanwhile the locals won't stop going on about the "freezing cold winter". They need to man up.
