Baron Young of Dartington

If you're not familiar with the work of Michael Young I suggest that you look at his achievements. He started the National Extension College which was a prototype for The Open University. He also founded the Open College of the Arts and the University of the Third Age. And that's just the big stuff! He took a peerage because it gave him free rail travel and an attendance allowance which he needed because he'd run out of money.
