Launchpad
Harrumph. I left the bike’s ignition on overnight and my car (complete with jump cables) are is still at the garage. Barn Nick’s in his way to Peebles & we get there just in time for me to catch the bus.
I walk through the park. Another unseasonally warm day - glorious, but terrifying.
And the clouds are still absent as I walk along Regents Road eight hours later. Princes Street is bustling, Scott’s monument erupting from the stark sunset.
A bus to West Linton, connecting with the almost empty Broughton service. Of the regulars, only Jane is still present. The bus is new, an unappreciated gesture towards rural transport.
I collect my car and drive guiltily home. Lamb curry for tea.
