Murchison
A couple of weeks ago our new town sign was erected/created. Since it went up I've had this desire to capture the silver letters lit up by the sunset.
The trouble is that it faces the wrong way! I went out tonight and waited for the colour in the sky but it just didn't work, and by then it was too dark to photograph anything else. So I took my wee sports car 4 wheel driving and drove up onto the grass (where I shouldn't have been) to shine my car lights on the sign.
It still wasn't how I envisaged it so I waited some more and captured it as a car drove past on the main road lighting it up a little more.
Anyway, this is the wee town I live in - population approximately 500. Nearest chemist - an hour away. Nearest shopping centre - an hour and a quarter. When many of you wonder about how often I mention going to Nelson - that's why! However, this is a great little town, regularly the highest temperatures in the country in summer and a bustling hive of kayakers and trout fishermen year round because of our great spot on the Buller River.
Like any small town, it has it's moments, but generally it is a wonderful place to live with generous people and great community spirit.
