Last rehearsal for 2012
Tonight was the last 2012 rehearsal for Colibri and Allegra, so in addition to our practice time at The Amadeus Project, we also made a few visits, and did some caroling.
Our first visit was to our fellow Colibrian, Karen N-F, who is on a medical leave. We began by serenading her and her family from their front porch with "We Wish You a Merry Christmas". It was so good to see Karen again. Our visit, and singing session with Karen and her mom, was as moving for all of us as it was for Karen.
After we completed our Allegra rehearsal, we crossed the street to the very elegant Leopold Retirement Residence where the Mt. Baker Youth Symphony was just packing up after their holiday performance under the direction of our own Sharyn Peterson, director for Colibri and Allegra! We quietly gathered next to the beautiful tree, and began crooning Silent Night, much to their surprise.
To me, this is music at its best - delivered hot and fresh, a gift of love to be shared and enjoyed by both performers and audience.
