The visitor

When we moved into the village, 10 years ago, there were no pheasants here, but gradually they have come in from the fields round about.  I wonder if it is that there are more back gardens not being cultivated, but rather left wild and to nature. 

There is certainly no lack of them now, we often have a family of mum and dad and four youngsters in the field behind the house.  Seeing this one so relaxed in the front garden was a first.  It's lovely to see such exotic looking birds at close quarters, but I don't know how I care for them coming in when the veg gardening is underway!
