Turnstone
A drive from Somerset to Sidmouth in Devon today to have lunch with the widow of one of our oldest friends.
Time before we arrived for a half hour walk on Sidmouth Promenade. To my delight we came across a flock of Turnstones. This wader is smaller than a Redshank. The RSPB says about 48,000 of them overwinter in Britain.
A lovely little bird but one which never keeps still for a second.
