Sliced egg
My blip today was going to be a photo of 68 pairs of knickers, our collection from book club/crochet group for the food bank we support, but it looked a bit pants!
I went to choir practice tonight and we are starting to get some new songs together for the British Sign Language choir festival at Manchester Cathedral. We are joining up with another choir to form a 'super group' to perform Joyful Joyful from Sister Act 2. If we pull it off it should be amazing.
The NOMA building (named after its global geographical location at 53 degrees NOrth and its city location of MAnchester) always looks pretty impressive at night.
It houses the headquarters of the Co-operative and it achieved the highest ever eco rating for a building (in the world, apparently - or at least in 2013 when it was completed). Power is generated from crops grown on the group’s farms, there is a rainwater harvesting and recycling system and a heat recovery system to collect and recycle waste heat.
It's also known as the 'sliced egg' since the top of the building looks like someone's dipped their spoon in and sliced it off (which you can't see at night or from this angle unfortunately) - a bit like a chucky egg ready for its toast soldiers.
Quote for today:
People never talked about my music. They just counted how many knickers were on stage.
