Master Of Disguise

Look at this amazing master of disguise! It was wandering around outside the house this evening and emitted a strange angry chattering noise when I tried to move it gently away from the risk of being stepped on.

It is one of the many leaf insects of Australia (Phylliidae - even the word is unusual, having two letter 'i's together).

I put a ruler as close as it was comfortable with - you can see it is 6cm in length and most leaf-like!
