Diary of an Edinburgher

Toast!

More work done in the kitchen - the chaps work non-stop, 'cept for a couple of fag breaks. I don’t think they eat! It's very labour intensive, cutting the big heavy boards that go on the walls and round the beams. They're doing a very tidy job, and the whole new window area looks good now. They've done a lot of cementing too, and got the extractor fan tube right to the wall. Though the extractor fan is not in yet.

The electrician said he'd come today, but didn’t. But apparently he was never coming today, as the ceiling has to be plastered before the lights are added. Of course.

The window painter came and said he'd come tomorrow. The chap who was going to advise on the doors didn’t come.

But Andrew, the boss, came back this evening and fixed the water pipe. So it'll be quite exciting to have flowing taps and plug holes again!

JR and Archie went for a big walk, but I stayed in to await the painter, the door man and the electrician. Only one of whom appeared, briefly.

The bathroom people have just put off the start date till the following week. This will give the kitchen chaps a few more days to maybe - wait for it - finish the whole job. Now that would be nice...

Here's Archie, on high alert waiting for a teensy bit of toast. He loves toast. He's been having quite a lot of toasty treats recently. Can’t wait for the toaster to go back to the kitchen, actually...
