Postbridge Clapper Bridge
We dropped in here on our way home for a quick walk and a coffee from the little postoffice .It is a shorter clapper bridge than the one at Tarr Steps that I have photographed several times, however it is apparently one of the best preserved , and as it is also along side the main road, I think probably the most visited.
This early medieval bridge appears in Britain's first known atlas produced in 1675. It is built using the locally mined massive slabs of granite .
( Bet a computer, a crane or even a risk assessment wasn't part of its construction!)
