Deceptive Appearance

When I first saw this shrub (top picture) in the plant room of the garden centre I thought it was a neglected plant that had not been deheaded. However, I looked down at the identification tab and saw that the picture was exactly as I had seen and this is the normal flowering head of the shrub. It is called 'Hamamelis Intermedia - Robert ' and it is a witch hazel shrub. Perhaps the lower image does it more favours as the flowers are less lost in the orange wispy mop head.
