Caltha palustris. Also known as Marsh Marigold. WikiP. says it flowers between April and August yet here it is at Steart Marshes Reserve in Somerset in good flower on March 1st.

An enjoyable day with friends at this enormous and relatively new reserve near Bridgewater.
