Langlaagte

Langlaagte farm, where a gold was discovered in 1886 and ultimately led to the establishment of the city of Joburg.

As a suburb it still buzzes but not one that I would like to call home.

My visit to the Abraham Kriel Campus was to do an accessibility review in preparation for them making modifications to accommodate people with disabilities. It turned out to be a walk through history with some amazing old buildings that are now a Children’s home.

This building which I am sure was once a cinema, is now a hall and a collection of offices and staff rooms. Just a pity there doesn’t seem to be record of its history but it’s a lovely old building.
