The tiny magnets are remarkably strong and can cantilever the lid with no problem at all.

The Cygnet was a wee monster after we collected him from and nearly didn't get to go The Larder.
I went and took a couple of pictures and when I sat back down Squirrel asked what I had been doing. I explained that I had been taking pictures of the Empire biscuits being made (her favourite). That got her attention and she asked if she could get one. She was really disappointed when I explained that a) she had already had a scone b) they needed to set and were not for sale.
