Flower Friday : : Dirty Daffs

OilMan dedicated our herb bed outside the living room window to daffodils this year, but they have been reluctant to show their faces. They produced some leaves but  nothing more. It would seem that they were waiting for the skies to open to open themselves for they finally opened during the height of the downpour.  I went out today and picked a lot of them (along with a massive amount of oranges and lemons) because many of the poor things were lying face first in the mud. This is the first time I've tried to give a daffodil a bath. I wouldn't say I was wildly successful, but they look a lot better in the house than they did face down in the dirt....a bit bruised and battered but still a wonderfully cheery color and an appropriate shot for the first of March.

We've had our second day of respite from the rain, although the sun is losing the battle to come through the clouds. Rain is supposed to return tonight, however it is supposed to be just a 'normal' rain, whatever that is. In terms of total rainfall, we have now surpassed what is 'normal' for the season, which doesn't end for a couple more months. I'm not even sure anymore when the official end of the season but we don't need any more rain.

The pictures of snow in the Sierra are of tunnels into front doors and snowbanks two or three times the height of a man thrown up by the snowplows. The skiers must be ecstatic, if they can get there.

It's ironic that somebody came today to measure our bedroom for shades because the sun shines  through the French doors in the summer and it gets quite hot in there. I've almost forgotten what that's like, but I have faith that I'll be reminded soon enough....
