Life Dancing

Pentland Sky

Freezing temperatures and all hectic today but managed to sneak home and rustle up lunch for a colleague.
Onion soup with lashings of melted Gruyere cheese and chunky bread for dipping.
A dash of Brandy (Calvados) in the soup works wonders for flavour (and mood)
This shot was taken around mid-day!

Had a quick peek at the bird feeders and was concerned about one of the Blue tits.
It was unusually still...as if slightly stunned. Thought it had maybe frozen as they usually don't hang around.
It flew off eventually, so fingers crossed.

Usually there are three or four visit at a time, same with the Coal tits but perhaps the others are huddled together trying to keep warm.
Although there's little time to watch the birds, food levels are a good indication of number of visitors.

Today, very little has been touched.

The Chaffinches seem to have disappeared altogether.
Might start keeping a bird log

Yesterday sterilised and refilled all the feeders and did even more "pigeon proofing" - especially after reading how they can spread canker.

All the cleaning is more time consuming than initially realised but small price for the rewards of watching their antics.
Unfortunately there are hoards of pigeons around the area.
