Nest Building

A poor picture taken through the window but I'm using it for today's blip as it's very seasonal: the female blackbird collecting material for nest-building.

The extra is cuter. This is the first time we've seen the squirrel go onto the niger feeder. The seeds are tiny but highly nutritious, well they are to finches! The squirrel sat happily feeding for a little while then, suddenly lost his balance and fell.

The funny thing about this was that he fell onto the pheasants who are always scratching about under the bird feeders. The squirrel ran off in one direction and the pheasant ran off, even faster, in the other. Another pheasant jumped back and stared looking as if she was wondering what just happened! I wish I had the shot for this!
