Living in Brabant

Midnight at the Oasis

I left work at dusk today, it was nice not to have to leave in pitch darkness.

The local supermarket had a special wine offer, so I went there and literally filled my panniers!

After that I cycled to a shop on the other side of town; their warm, fluffy bathrobes were on offer for a snip. How could I resist? On the way, I stopped at the mosque, wandered around the building a bit. Architecturally, I find it fascinating.

It was a bitterly cold evening, but dry, and pulling up at every traffic light was an experience; at one there was mother with a child carefully balanced on the back of her bike, at another, a car had a delightful reggae song blasting out of the loudspeakers.

Just one week to go, then it's the shortest day, and after that the days will start to get slowly, but surely, longer again.

I'm hoping the clear skies will stay; looking forward to doing a bit of Geminid spotting tomorrow morning by first light.
