What's For Ye'll No Go By Ye
My Dear Fellows & Dear Princess Normal,
I've been taking extra-special care of Caro this weekend. Don't get me wrong, I think she's all right, but not quite herself lately.
So our long weekend together has been just what the doctor ordered, really. She just told me she's really enjoyed herself these last couple of days. It's been the same formula as before - lots of thriller movies* cups of coffee and cats, but it seems to have worked wonders.
Today Caro wondered what might have happened if her family had emigrated to Canada instead of New Zealand. This was apparently on the cards. I suggested that maybe she would have come to Scotland anyway, accompanied by the Canadian version of Lisa**.
Mind you, that doesn't mean she would have met me there. Back when I was a kid, my dad was offered a job abroad that he seriously considered taking. In fact, I remember at the age of about six, plans were laid and preparations were underway when my Nan had a heart attack.
Not really. She was always having "heart attacks" when she wanted to get her way. But it was enough to stop us emigrating to New Zealand.
But isn't that wild? Caro was nearly a Canuck, and I was one selfish nana away from being a Kiwi. Would we have met anyway, I wonder?
I suspect we would. And I would have doubtless found a way to meet you too. That's karma, man.
