Russian Around

Saturday - the true "Day Of Games".  

Several 'first plays' in today - this one is Russian Railroads which I'd heard a lot about and was keen to try.  I enjoyed it well enough but it's one of those games where the veneer of theme over the generic 'engine' game is exceedingly thin. Re-theming this to Welsh daffodil farming would be trivial.  

I do like my railway games to end up with something that at least looks like iron and steam snaking its way across the land.

Other 'firsts' were Viticulture (again, much heard of but never played) which was good (and I won closely but satisfyingly, which makes it even better), and Mondrian, The Dice Game which was ... very silly.
