Bridge to Nowhere

this is what remains of the johnson bridge leading from canary road to the old gardiner ranch in the hills of the maple creek valley.

the bridge was dismantled by one of the paper companies after buying up most of the land there for timber in the 1990s.

i remember back 20 years ago leading my daughter's (pranaphoto) horse strawberry over the bridge to jackie's pasture from our property two miles up the road.

the beautiful white arabian/appaloosa mare never had enough pasture at our property on the hill.

i recall coaxing strawberry over the bridge with a bucket of oats, since horses are not necessarily fond of crossing water on bridges.
