Violet

Last week's sign of spring was frog spawn, this week its the wild violet. I'm starting to see a lot of violets in flowers in the hedgerows.Although its not a nectar source for butterflies it is the main caterpillar host plant for the fritillaries. Only three weeks to go before the 2019 butterfly recording season starts.
