beauty spot
I haven't walked this stretch of road for a while and was dismayed to see that lots of can and bottles have been thrown into the field. These are just two of about 20 along a short stretch of road just around the corner from the Routin Brig, a local beauty spot.
I'm cross about the littering aspect but what really worries me is that somebody is regularly driving along these narrow and winding country roads under the influence of alcohol. The drink/drive alcohol limit in Scotland is lower than in the rest of the UK and the effects of drink on driving are well known. To throw the cans out of a window, over the fence and into the field, the driver would probably need to be high up (ie in the cab of a truck or tractor) which is even more worrying. There's always the chance that the drinker is a passenger or (less likely out here) a pedestrian. I hope I never run into them.
Back again tomorrow with a big bag...
