Ian Rankin was in Preston on the final leg of his book tour this evening. Breaking from the normal formula for this type of event, he chatted for about an hour about Rebus, past and present, before talking questions from the floor.

I wasn't sure whether making the trip up the motorway at rush hour was worth facing, but I was glad that I did, he was excellent.
