Self Love? or Desperation?

This Song Sparrow has been hanging around my back windows for a very long time....I think it has been here since Fall. I wonder if he got lost and has no family or friends because he lands on the bottom of the window and just looks at himself.....it seems so sad. He never interacts with any other birds and doesn't come near any of the feeders. Is this as unusual as I think it is?
