a Mary's Cottage March botanical

we've no idea what this is at the moment... but we have a never used app  to identify plants...so i might give it a go.

Radish had the groomings this morning, courtesy of Sarra, who is off to Iceland and hoping to take photographs of the northern lights.

reading:  The Winter Book  by Tove Jansson 
cooking:  pancakes filled with asparagus and mushrooms in cheese sauce.

the app failed to acknowledge that i'd bought it!  
so any suggestions as to the id of this plant would be welcome.
so far:  laurel...but the leaves seem wrong to me...
