Dust
Soooo, today is Ash Wednesday the beginning of Lent, first day of lent. I’ve mentioned yesterday in my journal how people do all sorts of things for lent due to their religious beliefs or family up bringing, or what not. When I was young we gave up things like certain foods or certain things or behaviors. I always failed at that. I choose now at this stage in my life to just step up my spiritually!
My pastor put it like this last night at bible study and it was the perfect words for me. His words ... “Lent is not in the Bible. Lent is a tool to help our relationship with God. It’s 40 days of cleansing our soul and looking at ourselves honestly. Use this time to really focus on your relationship with the Lord.”
I just love that!!! The giving up stuff I’m sure helps some to remember to do just this. To each is own.
I have chosen this year to use this book called “Pauses for Lent” it’s a word a day for you to reflect on, just pause momentarily. So I have decided, well God put on my heart, to post the word for the next 40 day (excluding Sundays cause that’s the deal) on Facebook and here and have anyone who would like join me in a little Lenten spiritual practice.
So, I’ll post the word with the scripture along and sometimes a little exercise to go along with it. Hope you will join me and look forward to each day’s word.

(Sorry I’m a day behind, this was for yesterday, but I will get on my game and will be posting today’s right after this for the second day of lent)
