A NOVEL IDEA

Hello all, hope you are all well and have had a good day.

As it was National Book Day Today I took our friend G to Sedbergh, A Book Town in Cumbria, but is surrounded by the Western Yorkshire Dales.  Sedbergh, as some of you will know, is a small town and doesn't have a huge amount of secondhand bookshops, but it does have one really good one and two good smaller ones at least.  It is in a beautiful area.  Both G and I are huge fans of secondhand bookshops, which are dwindling badly now, but still a few good ones around if you can find them.

It was rainy when we started off and very cloudy over the hills.  We started off in the Three Hares for coffee and homemade biscuits.  This is a lovely small cafe great coffee and good homemade cakes, bread etc.  We then spent a couple of hours in the bookshops with G able to rest inbetween times.   At least in Westwood Books, the largest ones, there are lovely comfy sofas so when G has had too much he can rest so we can spend longer than usual before having to go back to the car.

We then decided to find another cafe for lunch.  Went past the Black Bull Inn and noticed that it has been fully refurbished so we decided to visit.  Wow what a transformation.  Just last year it was looking very run-down and in a bad way.  It is now modern but tastefully done keeping the original features.  The food is fabulous and reasonably priced.  

We then just came back as G was feeling a bit woozy by then.  He has several conditions, one being a neurological one which leaves him with permanent labyrinthitis, which means he needs to be able to sit quite regularly - so we usually manage this by choosing where we go.

Overall a lovely day.
