Anniversary travels...
Back on blip after a leave of absence and very aware that I did not complete the blip journal for the last holiday. May well get round to that one day
So we decided 10th wedding anniversary was another very good excuse for sneaking a trip in. In a year which we said would be a ‘quiet one’. Oh well.
So this morning we left stupidly early (alarm went off at 3.15am ) to drive to Gatwick for a 3 night trip to Verona. Romeo and Juliet, wine, romance, all of that crap :)
We had booked BA club class which was a treat. Exclusive check in, fast track security and use of the BA lounge were fab experiences. In particular the lounge which featured a large ‘pour your own’ alcohol selection, which included Champagne. It did not appear unacceptable to utilise this at 7.30am, so utilise it we did. I had a champagne breakfast with runway views whilst Rich had some very generously measured rum.
Whilst on the plane, out came champagne again, It was positively encouraged. In fact when I had basically turned down a second drink, the cabin crew brought me another mini bottle of champagne anyway, just in case. I drank it.
You’d have to drink a lot of champagne to cover the extra cost of booking club class, but I made a valiant attempt.
So we arrived in Verona half cut and laughing at everyone.
After a quick bus ride and a nice walk we got to our hotel. The hotel Due Torri was a 14th century palace. It is very grand and fancy. It has fluffy dressing gowns. Rich immediately cost us 5 euros by recklessly opening a bottled water
For some reason blip appears to have deleted the rest of this blog so maybe I’ve gone on too long? So cut short the rest of the day, went up big hill, pretty pics, nice restaurant, bad service, found a shop with cheap coke and haribo and back to the hotel to get in fluffy dressing gown and probably not move for the night. Big romance!!
