Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2019 Thursday — Travel Day

It’s been four long weeks since we’ve been on California’s Central Coast. We exited Cayucos on Wednesday, February 6, so that I could report to the college for the winter/spring in-service day that happened right before the spring semester launched.

I had a hunch that it might be awhile before we’d be back, but I really thought we’d come back on Week 3, not Week 4. One-fourth of the spring semester at the college is concluding.

This is Sea Glass Festival weekend in Cayucos. An annual event that attracts several hundred sea glass enthusiasts. We will probably try to walk through the display tent on Sunday afternoon so I can purchase a t-shirt or a baseball hat or some memento.

When we exited the 101 freeway in San Louis Obispo today, we stopped at three of our favorite thrift stores. We found several bargains: at the Assistance-League store Mr. Fun purchased two Reyn Spooner shirts for $5 each and they are like-new! I bought three blouses — one a Land’s End turtle-neck, and recently I have not found turtle-necks at Kohl’s, but only mock turtle-necks. At Fred & Betty’s Thrift Store I purchased a nice pair of black shoes and a pair of slippers. At the hospice thrift store I got a set of four placemats to take back to the SoCal house with us.

So the second weekend in March is almost here. We are now in Cayucos. I am planning to thoroughly enjoy the four nights and three days here.

P.S. The photos were captured at Overlook Park in Summerland, just south of Santa Barbara. It’s a great place for the three pups to stretch and to squat and a “people” restroom is also available. So it is a happy place for all of us. We also get to drive over the train tracks when we enter and exit the park.
