It's in the eyes
Today was taxi day.
Scheduled : A "fitting" for new glasses (to replace those stolen in the hijack), a check up at the eye doctor.
Unscheduled : Going back to bidvest, at the Carnival City Mall, to sort out Mom's investment.
The women who had done it, screwed up. Some or other form had not been signed and then, to add insult to injury, she had communicated this via e-mail, but got the e-mail address wrong.
Here is the eye report
Mom cannot get replacement glasses, because there is protein on the lens. Eye doctor says everything is OK and confirmed there is protein on the lens and then removed it.
NOTE : I snapped a shot of her waiting in the chair - posted it as an extra. No smiles or anything - she was NOT a happy camper
To summarize my day....
I drove all day and missed STEP !
I didn't miss STEP because of the driving, I missed STEP because of the waiting. The appointment at the eye doctor was scheduled for 12.30. He looked at her eyes just before 3. Then we had to wait for medical aid approval to clean the lenses. This finally happened at 3.30, it took 5 minutes.
AND THEN THE DRIVING, TURNED INTO A NIGHTMARE !
As I turned off the highway, the horrific squealing started. I was absolutely petrified that the car would die.........
It didn't !
I made it home, very shaken. Driving through dodgy nieghbourhoods on the back roads in the half light, with a squealing car, does that to you.
The cherry on top.
I couldn't phone Mom to let I know I had arrived home safely, because, the phone was dead.
Yes ! I did not open that box ...........
