The Grove in Lights
I returned to my one street project this evening as the shops and offices closed and folks were heading home. The Grove trees have new lights which arrived way before Christmas and I understand are a more permanent thing, they certainly make the street pretty on the these dark nights. Ilkley has been treated to some new Christmas bling this year and despite my missing the Christmas Peacock are in my opinion much improved than the show of the last few years. As well as cheering up the residents the lights are important in bringing in folks to the many independent shops, cafes and restaurants round these parts (and a few bigger chain outlets).
Elsewhere in life met Mrjohn in the grocery store, I had two avocados and a lot of beer in my trolley, he had a bag of greens in his, what do the contents of your shopping say about you?. I was doing the beer shop for Christmas and New Year, I decided to mostly go with the local Ilkley Beers this year, partly because it is fine ale and partly because I feel sullied by my relationship with Amazon. (The beer has now assumed squatters rights in the cellar fridge, though I might free up some room tonight with my old buddy Pete who is joining us with his good wife for the night).
Have a most excellent weekend blippers.
