Wax lyrical

Lovely day today. I went over to East Grinstead to join the team for our Christmas lunch. We traditionally go to Prezzos and I had the pollo al funghi - which is what I usually have - and it was jolly lovely. More lovely was seeing the guys including Emma who made it clear that I wasn't allowed take-away tonight having had a scrummy lunch.

Because I'd parked at Waitrose I felt obliged to go and buy some stuff and I had a chat with the lady behind me in the queue to pay; the lady in front of us was having a few problems so we had a few moments. I play a game of looking at shopping and wondering what might be prepared with the ingredients - she had fresh cod, prawns and frozen peas (and other stuff of course). My immediate thought was a nice light mornay sauce with some of the peas and the prawns and some green and red peppers over the cod and all served on a bed of steamed kale. She'd not thought about having kale with cod but I think I convinced her that the flavours and textures and colours all work together.

And then home and some online shopping and a lovely telephone chat with a friend. So now you know why I'm waxing lyrical today............
