The wood violet, Symbol of Athens, Athene's flower. Grows on a baked bit of gravel along my lane : I shall try to get a root. I'm always amazed when it appears, especially after the heat of last summer.

I imagine I can't be the only one who's quite unable to chuck out bulbs once they have flowered. So after 4 years in this flat signs of my need to stick them in some ground appear.
