Aftermoon tea

Spent a very relaxing afternoon at Chilston Park Hotel near Lenham in kent. We met our friends in the bar at 2pm for wine (Ian was driver so fruit juice for him), followed by a savoury afternoon tea with champagne. It was very tasty and enjoyable. We retired to the bar and didn't leave the hotel till 7pm. A great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Sally, one of our friends, once worked at Chilston Park Hotel as a marketing/events manager of the private hotel group Handpicked Hotels. She gave me a quick tour of the public rooms and explained how they had changed use over the past few years.

Chilston Park Hotel is a Grade 1 listed 15th - 17thC property set in 22 acres of parkland wirh a lake. I would like to return and explore the grounds. The local village of Lenham is beautiful with many historic buildings.

Cannot think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon with good friends than over a glass and a cuppa in beautiful surroundings.
