Backpack Friends

The 55+ group was treated to a wonderful breakfast this morning courtesy of some selfless volunteers who were cooking at 5:00 a.m.!  Then Tom Cottar "brought the program", educating us about Backpack Friends. A few years ago, he discovered that there are children in our area who do not have access to food at home over the weekend, so he set out to change that by starting a ministry called Backpack Friends.  Our church is now serving several schools in the area, sending backpacks filled with fruit and shelf-stable, kid -friendly food to get at-risk kids through the weekend.  Other churches have joined with us and there are many ways to help. We would be happy to have you join with us, so no kid has to be in a home without food from Friday  afternoon until Monday morning......
