Climate change or just bonkers March?

Gale force winds this morning. Quite a few trees down or damaged along some local A roads. This afternoon was calmer with sunshine. Then at 5pm dark clouds, one lightning strike, one deep rumble of thunder, then 3 mins of intense hail which settled like snow. Then the clouds moved off and lighter skies appeared. Temperature still very low though. Bonkers!
