Flower feeding march fly
This is the same type of March fly (Scaptia auriflua) as I blipped on Sunday . They are actually (I have since discovered) vegetarian march flies, rather than the usual blood feeding variety, so luckily I wasn't in any danger of being bitten! (I was bitten the other day by a black march fly when photographing the jewel spider... itchy!)
I'm posting this early in an attempt to stop me going back out to "just try to get a better shot". I could easily spend all day doing that... (and still not get anything better).
Much fluffier March fly
