Magnetic Island, Queensland
Up at 6 this morning to catch an early flight from Sydney to Townsville, Queensland. We then caught a ferry over to Magnetic Island which is about half an hour by boat from the mainland. The name Magnetic came from the time of Captain Cook because the island interfered with the ship's compass.
We are staying at Bungalow Bay YHA which is full of exotic plants and a noisy assortment of birds. After dropping off our packs we walked a short distance down to Horseshoe Bay which is like everyone's dream of a tropical beach.
Planning to stay here for a few days so there may be some beach shots, today I've decided to show a couple of my very noisy neighbours - the trees are full of them, they are as noisy as they are colourful!
